Postdoctoral Fellow
One post-doctoral position is available immediately within the Liu Lab for intracranial neurophysiology research studying the human neurophysiology of memory. The candidate will work with (1) surgical epilepsy patients in the acute care setting and (2) epilepsy patients with chronically implanted Neuropace RNS systems in the outpatient setting. The fellow will (1) develop naturalistic and virtual cognitive paradigms in collaboration with the PI; (2) collect behavioral, eye tracking, pupillometry, and speech data from patients; (3) collect simultaneous SEEG with single unit recordings and RNS recordings; (4) analyze behavioral and neurophysiological data; and (5) present their findings at national conferences and manuscript format. The candidate will benefit from the rich resources of the NYU School of Medicine, including the NYU Neuroscience Community and collaborate closely with a team of leading basic and cognitive neuroscientists and outstanding clinicians.
Qualifications: MD or Ph.D. in related field, such as basic or cognitive neuroscience, biomedical engineering. Demonstrated experience with electrophysiology, such as EEG (Scalp/iEEG/ECoG/SEEG), LFP, and/or single-unit / multi-unit recordings. Strong quantitative and computational skills, including proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or Julia (or related) for neural data analysis. Evidence of productivity, e.g., first-author publications in neuroscience, electrophysiology, cognitive science, machine learning, or related fields. Superior analytical and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team (clinicians, neuroscientists, engineers).

Research Interns
Are you interested in becoming a research associate in our laboratory? If you are an undergraduate student attending school in NYC, we encourage you to apply through the NYU BRAIN program, which offers excellent didactic training on clinical and basic neuroscience research and pairs students with NYU labs. BRAIN offers a stipend and is a full time summer and part time school year commitment. If you are an NYU student, you may be eligible for NYU’s Federal Work-Study Program. Unfortunately, we do not accept high school students. We take undergraduates who are passionate about neuroscience, hard working, idealistic, and kind. Students must commit least 2 years to the lab and at least 8-10 hours per week on average. This is because we invest a significant amount of time in your training and want you to get the most out of your training! That being said, students tend to stay for longer than 2 years - some stay for 4 years or longer!
